Holly Rey, born Holly Wasserfall on 27 December 1996 in Westville, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is a singer and songwriter. She started performing at age 14 and signed a publishing deal with Sony, releasing her first album Strawberry Skies in 2010. Her breakthrough came with the 2018 single "Deeper," produced by Mondli Ngcobo, which won Record of the Year at the South African Music Awards. Rey studied Media Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, graduating in 2019. Her March 2019 single “You” earned 3× platinum status with over 3.5 million streams. In August 2019, she headlined One Big Night in Sobekeng. She signed with Soulstic Music in March 2020. Her Unconditional EP was released on April 29, 2022. Rey teamed up with Blxckie for “Slow Down,” released on April 28, 2023. In August 2023, she won Masked Singer South Africa, becoming the show’s first winner. She released the EP 3 AM Pt. 1 on September 15, 2023.
