Altona is a small town in Keyser Township, DeKalb County, Indiana, bordering the larger city of Garrett. It was incorporated in 1906 and covers about 0.2 square miles of land, at an elevation of 883 feet. The population was 213 at the 2020 census. A post office operated in Altona from 1874 to 1913. The town is mostly White. In 2010 there were 90 households, with an average size of about 2.2 people, and the median age was 41.1 years. The ZIP code is 46738 and the area code is 260.
