Internet Telephony Services Providers' Association
ITSPA, the Internet Telephony Service Providers Association, is a British trade body for VoIP providers. It was launched in December 2004. Founding members include Gradwell Dotcom Ltd, Magrathea Telecommunications Limited, Telappliant, Timico Ltd, Voicenet Solutions Ltd, Voipfone and XConnect, with corporate members such as BT and Gamma.
ITSPA aims to promote competition and self-regulation to help the VoIP industry grow and innovate. Membership is voluntary, but members agree to follow the ITSPA code of practice.
Its main work is to represent the industry to government bodies such as the Home Office, the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (formerly the DTI), and Ofcom.
In 2016, ITSPA introduced an enhanced Quality Mark. ITSPA members can apply for it to show they meet certain standards.
Policies are decided by the ITSPA Council, which can have up to ten members representing different membership interests, and is supported by a secretariat, with guidance from the Industry Developments Working Group.
In 2013, ITSPA held its awards with eight categories to recognize people and companies involved in IP telephony, including service providers, wholesalers and vendors, with winners announced at the ceremony.
