Herbert Swan (Canadian politician)
Herbert Swan (January 10, 1927 – May 28, 2013) was a Canadian politician from Saskatchewan. He served as the 18th Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1982 to 1986, representing the Rosetown-Elrose riding as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Before politics, he was a farmer and ran a grain seed business. He studied in Demaine, at the Saskatoon Technical Institute, and at Success Business College. In 1949 he married Anita Syroishka.
Swan also served on the local school board and was president of the Saskatchewan School Trustees’ Association from 1976 to 1978. He later held cabinet roles as Minister of the Environment (1986–1987) and as Minister of the Environment and Public Safety (1987–1989). He retired from politics in 1991 and lived in Beechy, Saskatchewan. Swan died in Saskatoon in 2013.
