Al-Imara

Al-Imara (Arabic: العمارة) was a Palestinian village in the northern Negev, about 27 kilometers northwest of Beersheba. In the British Mandate period it was considered a small hamlet.

In October 1948, during the Arab–Israeli War, the village was captured by the Yiftach Brigade with no resistance. The nearby Jewish kibbutz Urim was founded around Al-Imara in 1946 and sits about 1 kilometer south of the original village site; during the 1948 war it moved to the site of the old British police station.

By 1992 the village site had been completely built over by Urim. Remains of several stone structures, about 2 kilometers southeast of the current kibbutz, are the old houses of Bedouin families from before 1948, and they were not part of Al-Imara itself.
