Hedda Strand Gardsjord
Hedda Strand Gardsjord (born 28 June 1982) is a Norwegian former footballer who played as a right-back. She was born in Oslo and is 1.68 meters tall. She began her football with Bærums Verk IL Jutul in youth football and spent time with the VCU Rams in the United States. Her senior club career was mainly with Røa IL, where she appeared in 149 league matches and scored one goal between 2006 and 2016, after also playing for Røa in 2000–2001.
She made her debut for the Norway women’s national team in January 2009 in Marbella, at age 26, in a 5–1 defeat by Sweden. She had never played for Norway’s youth teams. Her national team chance came after five club teammates quit international football following a dispute with coach Bjarne Berntsen. She was included in Norway’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2009 squad and remained in the team under coach Eli Landsem. She played in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, appearing in two matches as Norway were eliminated in the group stage. In early 2012 she took an indefinite break from international football to balance her football career with her work as a landscape architect. She earned 32 caps for Norway from 2009 to 2015.
