Herleif
Herleif, also known in Latin as Herleifus, is one of Denmark’s earliest legendary kings. He was the son of Frodo I and the father of Havardus hinn handramme and Leifus hinn frekne. He is said to have left many other sons, but their names are unknown and they don’t seem to be in the royal line. He was born Leif, named after his grandfather, but later became known as Herleif for his bravery in battle. The name comes from Old Norse: herr meaning “army” and leifr meaning “heir” or “descendant.” During his reign peace turned into wars and banditry. The records do not say how he died. He was succeeded by his son Havardus.
