Vive (software)
Vive is a free, members‑only mobile video chat app. The company has offices in San Francisco, Berlin and Hannover and was founded in Hannover by Arnd Aschentrup, Matthias Kleinmann and Tobias Dickmeis. The beta started in June 2014, and the iOS app launched in September 2014, with an iPad version following in October 2014. That same month, Vive raised about 1.5 million from European investors including Atlantic Internet GmbH, Hannover Beteiligungs Fond, and MBG Niedersachsen.
The app lets users search for people nearby or around the world. After you log in, you’ll see a list of other users ranked by common interests and last login. Vive aims to foster authentic, emotional, spontaneous connections and is similar to Airtime and Chatroulette. To join, potential members answer questions about how they’d use Vive and what they’d share, and moderators review their responses. Vive users could connect in Facebook Spaces until Spaces was replaced by Facebook Horizon.
