The majority shareholder is Talanx AG, owning about 50.2%.

The company’s two main reinsurance groups are Property & Casualty and Life & Health, offering treaty and facultative reinsurance, as well as structured reinsurance and financial solutions for clients’ growth.

Hannover Re also runs the Hannover Re Foundation, created in 1991 to support art and culture in the Hannover region. Since 2022 the foundation also focuses on sustainability and related projects, including education, science, disaster prevention, and climate protection.
