Guishan District

Guishan District (龜山區; Guīshān Qū) is in northeastern Taoyuan City, Taiwan. As of March 2023, about 174,000 people live there.

History:
- The area was once called Kulunsia. The name comes from a hill by the Mercy Buddha Temple on Shou Shan Rock, built in the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era.
- Indigenous plains tribes and the Ketagalan lived here.
- From 1920 to 1945, Kameyama Village was part of Toen District, Shinchiku Prefecture. In 1950 it was renamed Kueishan.
- On December 25, 2014, Guishan Township became Guishan District.

Facilities and transport:
- The Ministry of Justice runs the Taipei Prison in Guishan.
- The Taiwan Railways line between Yingge and Taoyuan passes through Guishan, but there is no station planned in the district.
