History and notable facts:
In 1867, George E. Guerne, a Swiss immigrant, bought land and created a subdivision that became Guernewood Park. He ran a sawmill in nearby Stumptown (which later became Guerneville). When the railroad reached the Russian River valley in the late 1800s, thousands of San Franciscans spent summers there. During the Big Band era, famous bands like Woody Herman and Tommy Dorsey performed at outdoor river venues into the 1950s, and Hollywood stars were frequent visitors.

Census note:
The 2020 Census counted Guernewood Park as part of the Guerneville census-designated place.
