Clement William Venkataramiah was the first diocesan bishop of Nandyal, serving from 1963 to 1967. He studied at St Augustine's College, Canterbury, and was ordained in 1930. He was Warden at the SPG High School in Giddalur from 1930 to 1941 and Chaplain at Igatpuri until 1945. He then worked in Ahmedabad, Deolali, Poona, Parel, Kurduvadi, Byculla and Surat before becoming Archdeacon of Bombay, a post he held from 1959 to 1963. He was consecrated a bishop by Lakdasa De Mel, Bishop of Calcutta and Metropolitan of India, at St Thomas' Cathedral, Bombay on 25 April 1963. He served as bishop for four years.
