God's Acre Cemetery
God's Acre Cemetery is a small, heritage-listed burial ground in Archerfield, Queensland, Australia, beside Archerfield Airport. It sits on Beatty Road between Kerry and Mortimer Roads and covers about 3 roods. It was established in 1859 by Thomas Grenier after his 16-year-old son Volney died in a horse accident. The site is also known as Grenier's Burial Ground, Coopers Plains Cemetery and Oxley Cemetery. Yeerongpilly Shire Council took control in 1924, with Brisbane City Council taking over in 1925. From the late 1920s the Archerfield Airport surrounded the cemetery. The land is owned by the Federal Airports Corporation and leased to Brisbane City Council. Burials continued until 1980. God's Acre Cemetery is listed on the Brisbane Heritage Register.
