Jim McDermott (basketball)
Jim McDermott (April 6, 1910 – June 2, 2009) was an American basketball and baseball coach and college athletics administrator. He spent his career at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. He was the head basketball coach at Iona from 1947 to 1973, posting a record of 320 wins and 252 losses. He also coached Iona's baseball team from 1947 to 1963 and served as the school's athletic director from 1956 to 1976. He later became the first commissioner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), serving from 1980 to 1984.
