Francis Stokes is an American film director and screenwriter born in Annapolis, Maryland. He is known for writing and directing the feature film Harold Buttleman, Daredevil Stuntman, and the internet video series God, Inc. The film Harold Buttleman, Daredevil Stuntman stars John Hawkes, Karen Black, Dan Castellaneta, Stephen Falk, and Stephanie Jane Markham. Stokes also created the environmental weblog Sludgie.com, which is no longer active. He studied film at New York University before moving to Los Angeles to work as a guide at Griffith Observatory while trying to sell screenplays. He wrote Harold Buttleman in 1997 and enlisted John Hawkes after meeting him at a theater performance. He wrote and directed God, Inc. in early 2007.
