House at 170 Otis Street is a historic home in Newton, Massachusetts. It’s a rare local example of Boston architect Hammatt Billings. Built in 1870–71 for Charles Ellis and Emma Claflin Ellis (Emma was the daughter of Governor William Claflin, whose own Newtonville home no longer stands), the two-story house features a distinctive mansard-roofed 2½-story tower with iron cresting. The building is designed in the Second Empire style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 1986.
