Foundation for Liver Research
Foundation for Liver Research is a UK medical charity focused on liver health. It funds the Institute of Hepatology in central London.
In 2024, most of its funding came from investors (about £2.35 million), with donations and legacies contributing around £525,000.
In March 2013, the foundation released a short documentary about the work at the Institute of Hepatology. In 2024, it co-founded the Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies with King’s College London.
In 2017, foundation director Roger Williams published a report on the financial impact of liver disease, proposing policy ideas such as stronger alcohol regulation, targeted taxes, and a minimum price per unit of alcohol. The report was welcomed by hepatologist Sir Ian Gilmore.
The foundation was formerly known as the Liver Research Trust.
