Anton Barbeau is an American singer-songwriter and producer from Sacramento, California. A true multi-instrumentalist, he sings and plays guitar, piano, bass, drums, synthesizers, and Mellotron, often layering quirky sounds with catchy pop melodies. His lyrics are playful and surreal, drawing influence from Robyn Hitchcock, Syd Barrett, XTC, and The Beatles.

He released his first CD, The Horse's Tongue, in the 1990s, which won Sacramento’s SAMMIE Album of the Year in 1994. Since then, he has put out more than twenty albums and collaborated with many artists. In the early 2000s he spent time in the UK, recording King of Missouri with The Bevis Frond and launching Guladong at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. He teamed up with Scott Miller on What If It Works? in 2006, and released Drug Free and In the Village of the Apple Sun.

His later years included Automatic Door (2007 in the UK, 2008 in France), Plastic Guitar (2009), and Psychedelic Mynde of Moses (2010). Barbeau also wrote and produced two albums with Allyson Seconds, Bag of Kittens (2009) and Little World (2016), which featured guests like Colin Moulding, Kimberley Rew, and Scott Miller. From 2010 to 2015, he played in the band Three Minute Tease, making two albums and touring the UK.

He has worked with Stornoway, Michael Urbano, Robbie McIntosh, Kimberley Rew, and members of Cake, and supported Julian Cope on tours in 2011–2012. His more recent albums include Magic Act (2016), Natural Causes (2018), Berliner Grotesk (2019), Manbird (2020), Oh The Joys We Live For (2021), Power Pop!!! (2022), and Morgenmusik/Nachtschlager (2023). He is still based in Sacramento and is a cousin of actress Adrienne Barbeau.
