David Otero
David Otero Martín, born on 17 April 1980 in Madrid, is a Spanish singer, guitarist and songwriter. He was a member of the pop rock band El Canto del Loco from 1994 to 2010. After the band split, he began a solo career under the name El Pescao (the fish). In 2017, he began performing under his real name.
As El Pescao, he released Nada Lógico in 2010. It reached number two on Spain’s top sellers chart, the single sold over 30,000 copies and earned a Golden Record. After a three-year Spanish tour with more than 280 shows, he issued a special edition Un viaje nada lógico in 2011 and an EP called Ciao Pescao in 2012. He then moved to Argentina for a year to work on his next album.
Ultramar was released in October 2014, featuring 11 songs written in Buenos Aires and recorded in London. The Ultramar Tour included over 70 shows in Spain, six in Mexico in 2015 (Monterrey, Puebla and Mexico City) with four sold-out shows in Mexico City, and four shows in Buenos Aires over the following years.
In 2017 he dropped the El Pescao name and released the album David Otero. In 2018 he put out the album 1980; its song “Precipicio al Mar” inspired his first book of the same name. In 2020 he began work on a new album with collaborations. On 24 January 2020 he released a new version of “Una Foto en Blanco y Negro” with Taburete, followed by three more singles—the four tracks forming the first volume of the new album. On 22 May 2020 he released a new version of El Canto del Loco’s “Tal Como Eres” with Cepeda.
Nada Lógico was released on 7 September 2010 by October Music & Sony BMG. The Ciao Pescao EP followed in 2012, with tracks Todo se complica, El mundo de los recuerdos, Corazón de cristal and Que no te llamen loco.
David Otero is Dani Martín’s cousin. He is married to his manager Marina Roveta, and they have two children, Luna and Gael. His official site is davidotero.com.es.
