Rosie (band)
Rosie was an American pop group from New York that existed from 1975 to 1978. The members were David Lasley, Lana Marrano, and Lynn Pitney, who met while touring in Hair. Lasley wrote most of the songs, usually with Marrano.
In 1975 they sang backup for Genya Ravan at Reno Sweeney, where they also performed one of their own songs. Ravan helped them get noticed by RCA, and producer Mike Berniker heard their live performance and wanted to work with them.
Rosie released two albums on RCA. Better Late Than Never came out in 1976, produced by Genya Ravan and Harvey Goldberg. Its first single was Roll Me Through the Rushes, arranged by Charles Calello. Last Dance followed in 1977, produced by Michael Kamen, with The Words Don't Matter as its first single. The Last Dance release happened on the same day Elvis Presley died, which affected RCA's promotion of the album.
The song Out of Pawn was later covered by Tim Curry.
