Fondmetal GR01 was a Formula One car built by Fondmetal F1 SpA for the early 1992 season. It was designed by Robin Herd (Technical Director), Tim Holloway (Chief Designer) and Tino Belli (Head of Aerodynamics). The GR01 followed Fondmetal Fomet 1 and used a Ford HB 3.5-liter V8 engine producing about 660 horsepower, mid-mounted. It had a carbon fibre monocoque chassis, front and rear double wishbone suspension with pushrods, Goodyear tyres and Agip fuel. It debuted at the 1992 South African Grand Prix and was driven by Andrea Chiesa and Gabriele Tarquini. The car failed to finish any race and scored no points. Fondmetal later sold one GR01, which was bought by Ranieri Randaccio and converted for the Interserie with an enlarged airbox and wheel covers; it raced from 1994 to 1997, taking second place at Most (1994, 1997) and Brands Hatch (1996). The GR01 was followed by the Fondmetal GR02.
