Ambatomena, Antsirabe II
Ambatomena is a town and commune in Madagascar, in the Antsirabe II district of the Vakinankaratra region. It sits at about 1,734 meters above sea level, and the population was around 19,000 in 2001. Primary and junior secondary education are available. The area hosts industrial-scale mining. About 87.8% of people work in farming, and around 10% raise livestock. The main crops are rice and fruits, with beans, maize, and potatoes also grown. Industry employs about 0.2% of the population and services about 2%. Time zone: UTC+3. Location: 19.85°S, 47.25°E.
