1985 Ciudad de México Cup Tournament
The 1985 Ciudad de México Cup was a small international football competition held in Mexico City from 2 to 9 June 1985. Three national teams took part: Mexico (the hosts), England and Italy. All games were played at Estadio Azteca.
Italy won the tournament, finishing ahead of Mexico with England in third place. The final standings were: champions Italy, runners-up Mexico, third place England. A total of three matches were played and six goals were scored, averaging two goals per game. Six different players each scored one goal during the event.
The tournament served as a warm-up for Mexico ahead of the 1986 World Cup, which Mexico hosted. The final game of this event also counted as the first match of the 1985 Azteca 2000 Tournament.
