Faurea is a genus with 16 species of flowering plants in the protea family (Proteaceae). They grow in southern Africa’s summer‑rainfall region and extend into tropical Africa and Madagascar. The name Faurea honors William Caldwell Faure (1822–1844), a South African soldier and botanist who died on active service in India.
