Edward Adjaho
Edward Korbly Doe Adjaho (born 3 January 1957) is a Ghanaian lawyer and politician. He was the Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana from January 2013 to January 2017, the fifth Speaker of the Fourth Republic and the first to be chosen from sitting MPs. He left his Avenor-Ave seat when he became Speaker, after serving as a member of Parliament from 1993 to 2013.
In Parliament, Adjaho held several leadership roles: First Deputy Speaker (2009–2013), Deputy Minority Leader (2005–2009), Minority Chief Whip (2001–2005), and Majority Chief Whip (1998–2001). He is a member of the National Democratic Congress.
Born in 1957, Adjaho studied at Accra Academy and then earned an LL.B. from the University of Ghana in 1984. He was called to the bar in 1986 after training at the Ghana School of Law. He worked in the Attorney-General’s Department before entering politics and also served in the Pan-African Parliament.
He is a Christian, married and has children.
