Saguenay County was a historical region in Quebec. It covered the area east of Tadoussac and north of the Saint Lawrence River, and Tadoussac was the county seat. Today, the land that used to be Saguenay County is part of the Regional County Municipalities of La Haute-Côte-Nord, Manicouagan, Sept-Rivières, Minganie, and Basse-Côte-Nord. In the late 1800s, provincial surveyors studied Quebec’s forests, and a 1895 report by the Canadian Department of Agriculture included 20 entries about rivers in Saguenay County, noting that most of these rivers had spruce trees nearby. The location is around 51°N, 64°W.
