Childhood (band)
Childhood were an English indie rock band formed in 2010 in Nottingham by Ben Romans-Hopcraft and Leo Dobsen while they were at the University of Nottingham. They posted demos online and then added Daniel Salamons (bass) and Daniel Ajegbo (drums). The group signed to Marathon Artists / House Anxiety and released Blue Velvet in October 2012. After Ajegbo left and they moved to South London, they recruited Jonny Williams (drums) and released Solemn Skies on 10 June 2013, produced by Rory Attwell.
Their debut album Lacuna came out on 11 August 2014, led by the single Falls Away in June. On 24 April 2015, Thomas Fiquet joined as the band’s bassist, though Salamons’ departure was not clearly announced on social media. On 21 July 2017 they released their second album Universal High, preceded by the singles Californian Light (April 2017) and Cameo (June 2017). It was recorded the previous summer in Atlanta at Maze Studios with Ben H. Allen III and was described as less collaborative than their debut.
The band quietly disbanded in 2018. Romans-Hopcraft went on to play bass with Insecure Men and Warmduscher and worked on a project with Sean Lennon. Salamons continued as a session player. Fiquet later joined Swim Deep.
