Dumitru Marcu
Dumitru "Mitică" Marcu (born 9 April 1950 in Drăghiceni, Romania) is a former Romanian football forward and manager. He began his career with Steaua București but became a legend at Universitatea Craiova, as part of their first great generation known as "The Champion of a Great Love," alongside players like Ion Oblemenco. Marcu scored 63 goals in 203 league games for Craiova. He also played for Mecanică Fină București, Steaua București again, and Gloria Buzău, finishing his club career with a total of 283 league appearances and 83 goals.
Internationally, Marcu earned 16 caps for Romania and scored 3 goals; he also played once for the Romania under-23 team.
After retiring as a player, Marcu became a coach. He managed Jiul Petroșani several times (1991–1993, 1997, 2002, and 2003–2004) and was caretaker manager of FC U Craiova in 2002. He also coached Al-Wehda in Saudi Arabia (2000–2001). From 2012 to 2016, he served as the sporting director of Gloria Buzău.
