Nancy Hower

Nancy Hower is an American actress, director, screenwriter, and producer. She was born on May 11, 1966, in Wyckoff, New Jersey, and grew up as one of nine children. She started acting in high school and studied drama at the Juilliard School in New York, appearing in several stage productions there and at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

Her professional acting began in 1993 at the Manhattan Theatre Club. She has acted on and off Broadway, and in films such as Insomnia (1994) and Blackout Effect (1998). On TV, she had guest roles on Suddenly Susan and The Sentinel, and played Ensign Samantha Wildman on Star Trek: Voyager, appearing in eight episodes.

Hower has also worked in music, fronting two bands, WENCH and STELLA, with STELLA opening Meat Loaf’s 2001 UK tour. She co-wrote music for the play Momma and created Memron (2004), a mockumentary about Enron, which led to the comedy series 10 Items or Less on TBS (premiered 2006). She directed the Hulu series Quickdraw (2013), which was renewed for a second season, and directed Zoey 102, the 2023 Paramount+ sequel film to Zoey 101, released July 27, 2023.
