Frumușeni is a commune in Arad County, western Romania. It has two villages: Frumușeni and Aluniș. The commune lies on the north-eastern part of the Vinga Plateau, about 17 kilometers from Arad. Frumușeni and Aluniș were part of Fântânele Commune until 2004, when they became a separate commune.

Population: about 2,600 people (as of December 2021). Ethnicity: about 98.5% Romanians, 0.6% Hungarians, 0.8% Germans, and 0.1% other or undeclared nationalities.

History and sites: Frumușeni was first mentioned around 1080–1090. Archaeological finds include Bronze Age remains at a place called Dosul Caprei and Iron Age settlements. Aluniș, founded in 1785 during the Josephine colonization, was settled mainly by German-speaking Catholics. It became an independent parish in 1788; the original parish church was opened in 1813, and the current church was inaugurated in 1839.

Economy and culture: The commune is mainly agricultural, with both major farming activities well developed. The built heritage and traditional family structures give Frumușeni an area of national cultural value.
