Dosinia exoleta
Dosinia exoleta, commonly known as the rayed Artemis, is a saltwater clam in the family Veneridae (venus clams). The shell of an adult can reach about 60 mm long. It is circular with fine concentric ribs and can be white, yellowish, or pale brown, often with darker blotches. It is found in the Boreal-Atlantic region and the Mediterranean Sea, living on the lower shore and muddy flats down to depths of about 100 metres. It was first described by Linnaeus in 1758.
