Pandanon Island
Pandanon Island is a tiny island in the Camotes Sea, in the Visayas region of the Philippines. It sits between Olango Island and Bohol and is part of the Danajon Bank, the country’s only double barrier reef, known for its rich marine life.
The island is a barangay of Getafe town in Bohol. It covers about 0.07 square kilometers (0.027 square miles) and has a population of about 2,306 people (as of 2024). Most residents are Cebuano. While many people fish for a living, some work in tourism, running beach resorts and island-hopping tours for visitors.
Pandanon is about 9 kilometers northwest of Getafe port and 13 kilometers southeast of Cordova, Cebu. The island has two public schools.
Pandanon was heavily affected by Typhoon Rai (Odette). Residents evacuated to shelters on the main island before the storm, and after, many lost homes and fishing boats. Local authorities, the Coast Guard, and the Army provided relief to affected families.
