Dores de Campos is a municipality in the southeast Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, about 40 kilometers from São João del Rei along BR-265. It sits at about 956 meters above sea level and covers 1,437 square kilometers. In 2020, around 10,223 people lived there, with a population density of roughly 72 inhabitants per square kilometer. The local economy is helped by the Marluvas factory, which employs about 30% of the active workforce. Dores de Campos lies along the Estrada Real, a historic route in the region. The town was founded around 1720 and became a city on December 17, 1938. It is part of the Immediate Geographic Region of Barbacena and the Intermediate Geographic Region of Barbacena, in Minas Gerais, and belongs to the Roman Catholic Diocese of São João del-Rei. Coordinates are about 21.1°S, 44.03°W, and the time zone is BRT (UTC−3). The mayor is Ilídio Antonio de Melo Neto. Website: doresdecampos.com.
