Jean-François Zygel
Jean-François Zygel (born 23 November 1960 in Paris) is a French pianist, improviser, composer and improvisation teacher at the Conservatoire de Paris. He is known for bringing classical music to TV and radio, and his music is influenced by synagogue cantillation; two of his great-grandfathers were hazzanim in Poland. Since 2015, France Inter has a weekly show by him, La Preuve par Z, where he explains great composers with long concert excerpts. On 31 August 2017, he launched Zygel Académie on France 2, a program where celebrities discover classical music, attracting about 601,000 viewers (7.3% of the audience).
