The Rans S-20 Raven is an American homebuilt and light-sport aircraft designed by Randy Schlitter and built by Rans Designs in Hays, Kansas. It premiered at AirVenture in August 2013 and is sold as a kit for amateur builders, with plans to offer a ready-to-fly version in the light-sport category later.

The S-20 blends features from the Rans S-6 Coyote II and the S-7 Courier. Unlike the S-6, its fuselage is made from welded 4130 steel tubing, and it uses the S-7’s wings. The high-wing aircraft seats two people side by side in an enclosed cockpit with bowed-out top-hinged doors to provide extra shoulder room. It can be fitted with fixed conventional landing gear or an optional tricycle gear, both made from aluminum and with wheel pants. The single engine is mounted in a tractor configuration.

Construction uses a welded 4130 steel tube fuselage, aluminum wings, and doped fabric coverings on all surfaces. The wingspan is 30.25 feet (9.2 m) with a wing area of 152.7 square feet (14.19 m2). The wing is supported by V-struts with jury struts and includes flaps. The cabin is 46 inches wide and has a large overhead skylight.

Power typically ranges from 100 to 160 hp, with common choices being the 100 hp Rotax 912ULS or the 130 hp ULPower UL350iS. The empty weight is about 740 lb (340 kg) and the gross weight is 1,320 lb (600 kg), giving a useful load of 580 lb (260 kg). With a full 26 gallons of fuel, the payload for the pilot, passenger, and baggage is around 424 lb (192 kg).

Rans estimates a kit-building time of 500–700 hours, with kits expected to start shipping in February 2014. A ready-to-fly light-sport version was planned for late 2015, at an approximate price of $120,000. By January 2014, at least one S-20 had been registered in the United States, with as many as two on the books at one time.
