Donna Uchizono is an American choreographer and the artistic director of the Donna Uchizono Company, based in New York City. She is a Guggenheim Fellow and a United States Artist award recipient, and has received many grants and honors from national and city funders for her work.

Life and career
Donna Uchizono was born on a U.S. Army base in Tokyo, Japan, and grew up in Southern California. She danced with local companies and earned her BA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach. In 1986 she moved to New York City, where she continues to live and work. She was a founding member (and later chair) of Danspace Project at St. Mark’s Church (1990–1995) and founded the Donna Uchizono Company in 1990, serving as artistic director. She is recognized as a prominent Asian American choreographer in modern dance, and she has used her platform to highlight the visibility and experiences of American-born dancers of Asian descent.
