The 2000 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships were held on November 20, 2000, at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. It was the 62nd annual men's championship and the 20th annual women's championship, with both races held on the same day. The men's race was 10 kilometers and the women's race was 6 kilometers. About 505 athletes competed: 253 men and 252 women. The day was very cold with strong winds around 20 mph, giving wind chills near 0°F.

Arkansas won the men's team title with 83 points, their third straight and 11th overall. Colorado won the women's team title with 117 points, their first. The individual champions were Keith Kelly of Providence in the men’s race (30:14.5) and Kara Grgas-Wheeler of Colorado in the women’s race (20:30.5).
