Gilbert Merle is a Puerto Rican radio host who became famous on the El meneo de la mañana morning show. He graduated from the Inter American University in San Germán, Puerto Rico. As Shanom's long-time radio partner, he became a well-known figure in Puerto Rican media, especially in the western part of the island. Merle was part of the first team to broadcast a Puerto Rico morning show to the U.S. mainland.
