Deciduous hoof capsule
Deciduous hoof capsule is the outer fetal hoof skin found in fetuses and newborn foals. It is shed as the animal grows. In horses, it falls off soon after the foal begins to stand. The shedding can happen all at once or gradually as the hoof grows. It is sometimes called "golden slippers," "fairy fingers," or "horse feathers."
