Peter Joseph
Peter Joseph (born February 4, 1979) is an American independent filmmaker, musician, author, and activist. He is best known for the Zeitgeist film series, which he wrote, directed, narrated, scored, and produced. He also founded the Zeitgeist Movement, a group that promotes sustainability.
The Zeitgeist Movement started in 2009 as the activist arm of The Venus Project, created by Jacque Fresco in 1994. The two organizations separated in 2011.
Joseph published The New Human Rights Movement: Reinventing the Economy to End Oppression in March 2017. He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and studied at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and The New School for Social Research.
His work with the Zeitgeist films has drawn national media attention, including coverage in The New York Times, The Palm Beach Post, VC Reporter, and TheMarker. Since 2011, he has supported the Occupy movement. In 2012, he created the satirical miniseries Culture in Decline, which mocks various modern cultural trends.
