Danville Main Street Historic District

Danville Main Street Historic District is a national historic district in Danville, Indiana. It covers about 9 acres and includes 37 contributing buildings in a residential area bounded by East, Main, Cross, and Marion Streets. The district developed from around 1844 to 1920 and shows styles such as Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, American Foursquare, and Bungalow/Craftsman. Notable houses include the Harry Underwood House (1914), the J.W. Morgan House (1868), the John Shirley House (1885), and the Scearce House (1910). It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 8, 1994 (reference number 94001109). In 2000, a historical marker was placed by the Indiana Historical Bureau, the Main Street Historical Association of Danville, and the Town of Danville.
