Mespelare
Mespelare is a village and district in the municipality of Dendermonde, in East Flanders, Belgium. In the Middle Ages it was owned by the Count of Flanders, and later by the Royen and Goubau families. The village church, dedicated to Saint Aldegund, has Romanesque origins and dates from the 12th century. In front of the church is an 18th‑century pillory, which bears the coat of arms of the Goubau family, who once ruled the village.
