Danny Spooner
Danny Spooner (16 December 1936 – 3 March 2017) was an Australian traditional folk singer and social historian. Born in England, he left school at 13 and worked on ships as a salvage tug operator and trawler captain before moving to Australia in 1962. In Melbourne he joined the folk revival around Frank Traynor’s club and became a leading figure in Australian folk music. He was Port Fairy Folk Festival Artist of the Year in 1995.
