The Race Club
The Race Club is a private swimming club in Islamorada, Florida. It started in 2003 by Olympic swimmers Gary Hall Jr. and his father, Gary Hall Sr. The club runs a training program that focuses on improving swimming techniques.
Facilities are at Founders Park in Islamorada, with a 50-meter pool (eight lanes) and a 12-foot diving pool.
Training program: The Race Club’s plan covers five areas—swim training, strength training, mental training (sport psychology), nutrition, and recovery. They also use underwater video to analyze strokes and have swimming DVDs for faster training. The club has offered summer swim camps for swimmers of all ages since 2006.
Olympic success: Swimmers from The Race Club have earned Olympic medals. In Athens 2004, club swimmers won six medals. In Beijing 2008, 17 swimmers from 15 countries who trained with The Race Club competed and won two more medals, all posting personal best times.
