Barton is a small village and civil parish in Cheshire West and Chester, England, near the Welsh border—about 12 miles south of Chester and 8 miles east of Wrexham. The name Barton means barley farm or settlement. It used to be a township in Farndon parish and became a civil parish in 1866. The population has always been small: 143 in 1801, around 120 in later years, 71 in 2001 when Barton joined with Stretton, and 123 in 2011 for Barton and Stretton together. The A534 road passes through the village, and National Cycle Network Route 70 runs just to the south. The church serving Barton is St. Chad's in Farndon, and the local pub is the Cock o' Barton.
