Dandupur
Dandupur is a village in Chaka Mandal, Prayagraj district, India, about 10 km from Prayagraj. It is close to becoming part of the city as municipal corporation elections approach. The name comes from Dandu, the elder son of a zamindar who is considered an ancestor of the villagers. The village has a Shia Muslim community and a mix of cultures, with historic mosques and Imambaras. After independence, the zamindari system ended, and the last zamindar, Inamul Hussain, became the first Pradhan (village head) of Dandupur. Today it is regarded as a developed village. In the British era, Dandupur was relatively rich, with many landowners; after independence land ownership changed and the feudal system declined. The next generations excelled in education and achieved high positions, boosting the village’s economy. With Prayagraj’s growth, Dandupur’s economy is flourishing, and the new master plan places Dandupur under Prayagraj city.
