Crooked Creek, Alberta

Crooked Creek is a small, unincorporated community in northern Alberta, Canada. It sits along Highway 43 between Valleyview and Grande Prairie. It’s part of the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16 and lies in the Peace Wapiti School Division.

The area is mostly agricultural, but oil development in recent years has helped small businesses grow. Construction and forestry are also important jobs in the community.

Crooked Creek has a mix of cultures, including Mennonite and Hutterite communities. There are a few schools: the largest is Ridgevalley School, a K-12 public school that serves a wide area from Sturgeon Lake to the east and Bezanson to the west, with about 300 students. There is also a Grade 1–9 school serving the Mennonite community, and a nearby Hutterite colony with its own school.
