Second Republic of Pińczów (Polish: Republika Pińczowska) was a short-lived, self-declared state in July–August 1944 during World War II. It was proclaimed in the Świętokrzyskie region of Poland, with its capital at Graby. The area was controlled by Polish resistance groups—the Home Army (Armia Krajowa), the People's Army, and the Peasants' Battalions. The local government claimed to follow the Polish Government in Exile in London, while communist forces in the area ran a separate authority that did not recognize the exile government. The Republic existed from July 21 to August 12, 1944, and collapsed when German forces moved in and supplies ran out. The event is remembered locally as a wartime episode. It covered about 1,000 square kilometers. Today the land is part of Poland, and the anniversary is commemorated by local authorities.
