Cora arachnoidea is a species of basidiolichen in the Hygrophoraceae family. It was found in Venezuela and described as a new species in 2013 by Jesús Hernández and Robert Lücking. The type specimen was collected near Laguna de Mucubají in Sierra Nacional de Venezuela, at about 3,626 meters above sea level. The name arachnoidea refers to the cobweb-like texture of the lichen’s surface. Another member of the genus with a similar surface is Cora hirsuta. Cora arachnoidea is widely found in the northern Andes (Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia) and in the Cordilleras of Costa Rica. It grows on soil among páramo vegetation, often together with bryophytes (mosses and related plants).
