Prunus apetala
Prunus apetala is a flowering cherry in the Rosaceae family. It is native to Japan, especially Honshu, and grows as a shrub or small tree. It is commonly called clove cherry (Japanese: choujizakura) because its calyx resembles a clove bud. The name apetala comes from Greek and means "without petals," reflecting that the petals fall off soon after the flowers form. It is listed as Least Concern for conservation.
